What effect did White-Williams Scholars have on your life?

I began receiving support from White-Williams when I was a sophomore at Central. It was during the Depression and times were hard. My mother earned $8 a week for working 40 hours at a knit goods factory and my sister made $5 a week working as a doctor's receptionist. The $3 I received from White-Williams was an important part of my family's income. Receiving that money made a huge difference in my life. It allowed me to complete high school, instead of having to leave to find work.

Why do you contribute to support current Scholars?

I know how important it was to me to receive support from White-Williams and I know that there are worthy students who need funds now just as much as I did then. I think it's very important to do everything we can to help these students stay in school.
